31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 9 - Rainbow Nails

Today I have a design that I loved so much by jihyeleeart at that I had to recreate it. It's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's Rainbow Dash's tail and cutie mark. I thought it was perfect for rainbow day. What do you think of my copycat version?

I'm definitely a pegasistah! I watch this show all the time. My favorite pony would have to be Rarity, all because we are both into fashion. I will definitely be doing more My Little Pony designs later on.

Here comes the tutorial! I choose you youtube video forme! LINK COMING SOON

Tumblr blog forme use Tail Whip!

First I painted my nails with a light blue. The light blue I had was too dark so I frankened it by adding a little white.

Second I made an outline in blue of the tail shape and cutie mark like so.

Next I took out my purple and made a little wisp at the top.

Then I made a blue wisp below the purple.

After that I did a green wisp.

A yellow one….

An orange one…. My orange was too sheer so to make it opaque I extended the yellow to where I wanted the orange to go and just painted over it.

And finally the red wisp. But I'm not done yet…

I filled in the cloud with white.

Made a yellow lightning bolt next to the blue one.

And a red lightning bolt next to the yellow one.

Finally finished with the cloud accent in blue, top coated, and finished!

Here's my long list of paints I used…

Blue Collar by Orly
Blu Blaze by Nina Ultra Pro
Punki Purple by Nina Ultra Pro
Starboard by China Glaze
Lemon Fizz by China Glaze
Sun Worshiper by China Glaze
Monsooner Or Later by O.P.I
Alpine Snow by O.P.I

Here the all are.

And here is my design from afar.

Oh boy that was tedious. But it's over. Major props to jihyeleeart for this design. She hand paints tons to sell on My gosh! I don't know how she does it!

Tomorrow is gradient! This should be easy….

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 8 - Metallic Nails

I really enjoyed this design. I created it myself. I have literally have never heard of anyone else do a film reel style nail art design. And to go even further I have never heard of anyone try an "old style countdown before a movie starts" design either! I really out did myself here.

This design represents me because my boyfriend Dane is into making youtube videos for his channel. Check him out on They are sketch comedy type videos so if you are due for a little laugh then this is the channel to watch. He also wants to become a cinematographer and that actually inspired me to want to be a costume designer someday. So all in all, videos, film, and youtube is a big part of my life.

Moving right along I have for you, a little thing I would like to call a tutorial. If you prefer youtube

If you prefer Tumblr

Any decision you make please keep your arms and legs inside at all times and enjoy the tutorial.

First I painted my nails with a holographic silver paint. (The holographic part is not necessary).

Next I made 2 horizontal thin black likes at the top of my nail and 2 horizontal thin black likes at the bottom of my nail.

Then I made vertical even thin black lines inside the horizontal lines, making sure to keep the middle clear of black paint like so.

After that I made a thick horizontal line in the middle and made the edges a bit less harsh by curving the sides in like so.

To start on my thumb, I made a cross in the middle of my nail making sure to bring the edges of the cross to the edge of my nail.

Next I made a white line to the corner of my nail and filled it in. I don't think it matters what corner you pick.

After that I made 2 white circles around the center of my nail, like so.

Then I painted an 8 in black in the center, top coated, and done. You may do whatever number you want. I just did an 8 because its day 8 of the nail challenge.

Here are the colors I used

509 HD by Milani 3D Holographic
Black Onyx by O.P.I
Alpine Snow by O.P.I

Here are the tools I used.

And here is the finished product.

Although it was a lot of work, I still really enjoyed this creation. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Tomorrow is rainbow day! Guess what I have is store!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 7 - Black and White Nails

Today I come to you with a very cute design. I have seen a lot of people do this mani but I think my design is my favorite version I have seen.

Penguins are my favorite animal so of coarse the first thing that came to me for black and white day was penguins.

Here's how I did it. If you prefer to watch my tutorial

If you prefer to read my Tumblr

First I painted my nails black.

Next I made a large white half circle at the edge of my nail.

Then I took my dotting tool and made 2 white eyes above the circle.

After that I made a smaller black dots with my dotting tool inside both the white dots.

Then I whipped out my white yet again and made tini tiny white dots with a toothpick inside the black dots.

Next I made a yellow beak by making a small thick line between the eyes and the white belly.

Finally I took out my dotting tool again and made 2 yellow feet at the bottom of my nail, top coated and finished.

Here are the colors I used…

Black Onyx by O.P.I
Alpine Snow by O.P.I
250 Lightening by Sally Hansen Insta-dri

Here the are now!

And here is a pic from afar.

Hope you enjoyed today's mani!

Tomorrow Is Metallic! I don't have many polishes that would fit that description. :( This will be fun…

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 6 - Violet Nails

Welcome Back! Today I am showing off my violet design. They are cupcakes! I could have don’t any color with these but I had nothing planned out for today so I thought "what the heck" and here they are!

The design is not my own creation 100%. I have seen many people do cupcakes on their nails, so I tried my hand at it since those suckers are my weakness.

The actual cupcake (I know it may be hard to distinguish the real one from my nails because I did so good) was from a cute little café in Folsom called Rockin' Cupcake Café. I have always passed by it and thought about going in but never had the time. Today I was in need of a cupcake but my kitchen is a mess so I couldn’t make some, so I finally stopped by. It's really a one of a kind place. So adorable. If you are not in the mood for a cupcake they have a load of other things on their menu to choose from like yummy milkshakes. The staff they have at the Rockin' Cupcake Café is also very nice. The girl who was working at the time was very helpful in picking out a pretty cupcake good enough for my main picture. If you are ever in the Folsom, California are I definitely recommend making a stop there.

Anyway these are the steps I took to make my nails today. If you prefer youtube

If you prefer Tumblr

First I painted all my nails a dark purple.

Then I made a big white circle on the edge of my nail like this.

Next I carefully added some seer light purple on the top half of the circle. I also made it look like the icing was coming off the edge by making some little half circles along the edge of the icing line.

Next I took my pastel yellow and made vertical lines going into the middle to give the effect of the cupcake having a wrapper.

Then I made some blue sprinkles with a toothpick.

Pink sprinkles.

And green sprinkles.

Finally topped it off with a little red cherry on top by taking my dotting tool and stamping it at the top of the cupcake. After that I top coated and finished.

The colors I used were
It's An Original! by Finger Paints
Alpine Snow by O.P.I
Purple by California Nails (from Dollar Tree)
Lemon Fizz by China Glaze
Blue by California Nails (from Dollar Tree)
Pink by California Nails (from Dollar Tree)
Green by California Nails (from Dollar Tree)
Monsooner Or Later by O.P.I

Here they are.

Here is a pic of my nails from afar.

And that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Tomorrow is black and white day. What will I have in store for you tomorrow?

31 Day Nail Art Challenge: Day 5 - Blue Nails

Today I bring you Adventure Time with Finn and Jake! This look I created myself was inspired by the intro of the show. Take a gander!

Note: No snails were harmed for these pics. I named him Cesar, then put him back where I found him.

Cute right? Well I constantly watch that show and am in the process of making a BMO costume for an Adventure Time costume party I was invited to on the 30th. When I mean "in the process of" I mean I just have a box. There's a lot of work ahead of me so I am starting tomorrow and taking it slow so I don't rush and make a bad costume.

Enough of that. Here comes the tutorial. If you prefer to watch my process shot for shot then brace yourself. Here's the link

If you prefer Tumblr then this is the link for you

First I painted my nails with a blue 3D effect nail polish. (The 3D polish is not required).

I painted a white base outline.

Made a peach circle in the middle.

Made 2 black lines for eyes.

Made a small dark red (blended red and black together) circle for the mouth.

Made a pink tongue inside the mouth.

Made little white teeth, top coated and took a deep exhausting breath.

On my other fingers I wrote FINN THE HUM AN in black. (messed up on the human part. The intro goes HU MAN instead).

I made a dark yellow base outline. (He turned out a bit too dark).

Made big white eyes with my dotting tool.

Made half-moons around his eyes with black.

Outlined him in black so you can see his ears clearly.

Made his jowl and his little bitty nose. Top coated and done.

On my fingers I wrote JAKE THE DOG in black. Top coated the wrest of my nails and Let 'em dry.

The colors I used were

14 Spectrum by Sally Hansen Hi-Definition Nail Color
White acrylic paint by Daler -Rowney
Cream acrylic paint by Daler -Rowney
Black acrylic paint by Daler -Rowney
Crimson acrylic paint by Daler -Rowney
Portrait Pink acrylic paint by Daler -Rowney
Deep Yellow acrylic paint by Daler -Rowney

Here's a pic of what I used.

Now my nails from afar.

Hope you like them as much as I do. I'm really proud of them. I didn't have much confidence in this design but they sure proved me wrong!

Tomorrow is purple, which I have none of….. Looks like im going shopping for supplies.
